Last week, with great fanfare, we unveiled the contenders in the Mint Digital Android Challenge 2010. Utku and I emailed about two hundred of our closest friends, and the closest friends of Mint, and asked you for your help in choosing a winner. Most of you responded, and we were touched by the thought that people put into their choices, and into the comments that came in along with the votes. All of the applications found passionate support amongst some of our voters

  2. Weplay launches!

After four months of intense work, we have just launched the Weplay beta. Weplay is a sports network for children, something like Piczo meets TeamSnap. The client is a startup backed by Major League Baseball, Pequot Capital and Creative Artists Agency. By transferring our technology, and working closely with the outstanding development team at weplay, as assembled by Luke Melia, we helped Weplay hit a very aggressive launch target.

Weplay.com is one of the biggest sites Mint has built. It includes a complex model of parent to child permissioning, a state-of-the-art UI, and a very robust security model to ensure the online safety of the children who make up the sites core demographic.

Last Saturday, I went to the Gotham Ruby Conference. It was partly sponsored by Google, at their New York offices. They're beautifully set up to handle these kinds of things, with a nice sound system, open wireless, and four big screens for presentations. Overall it was a great day, with interesting speakers, and ample opportunities to meet our fellow New York (and Boston, and Philly, etc) Rubyists. Here's my quick summary of what I saw:
