Mint's core expertise is building highly scalable web properties allowing rapid iteration and offering robust performance. Over the last six years we have evolved a web stack that meets these demands perfectly. Our toolkit is wide, with Ruby as our core technology, we use the best in open-source software where applicable and develop our own tools when needed. As you can imagine, a lot has changed in 6 years and we are constantly evolving the technology we use to take advantage of the latest developments.
A powerful mix of home-grown Mint technology has become tightly incorporated into our working process. This tight marrying of skills and toolsets has many advantages. Significantly we are able to ensure that deployments to staging and production happen as a seamless part of the development cycle. This flexibility is essential for making improvements on the fly and reacting to user needs.
We built Bloombox, our toolkit for creating social sites, as a flexible and fully-featured Content Management system, where most of the content comes from your users. This allows us to rapidly and easily develop and deploy many 'standard' building blocks of social sites, such as profiles, groups, commenting and many more. First conceived back in the early days of 'social' we've seen this evolve and change as time has passed. More recently we have updated things to reflect improvements in both responsive behaviour and the real-time web as well as the fact that more and more of our web traffic is via mobile.
